A NOTE FROM JANELLE

As creatives, we can use our our professional talents and platform to help raise funds in unique ways. Art Bundle seeks to give creatives the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for organizations who are creating positive change in our communities.

Art Bundle was created in response to the persistent systematic racism across the United States and the innocent lives lost to police brutality. According to Mapping Police Violence, in 2019 the policed killed 1,099 people – Black people were 24% of those killed despite being only 13% of the population and 99% of killings by police from 2013-2019 have not resulted in officers being charged with a crime. Bundles #1 and #2 were direct responses to nationwide protests following the unjust murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, MN. There are many organizations that need funding right now to continue their work to seek justice and organizing creative people is one way I can use my skills to help. It is crucial that we take long-term steps to be anti-racist and create systematic change. To my white and privileged community, please seriously consider how much you’re able to donate on a regular basis, not just during this singular call to action. In addition to money, you must do the necessary work of recognizing the ways in which our system has benefited you while it has failed so many others. Unlearn what broken systems have taught you.
